How To Create An Elegant Dining Room

Construction & Contractors Blog

Whether you are moving into a brand new house or you are remodeling your present dining room, selecting a style for your room is part of the fun. Here are some ideas that might inspire you to create something unique and lovely.

An Elegant Setting - For an elegant dining room, consider a crystal chandelier as one of your focal points. Crystal sconces on the walls will also add elegance. Consider placing original paintings in heavy gold frames. Original artwork doesn't have to be expensive. Look for local artists that display their work at fairs or at local art shows. Even your children's art can look amazing when matted and framed properly. Consider ornate dining room furniture. Dining room chairs that are upholstered in rich fabrics would be gorgeous.

An Old-Fashioned Theme - When you are planning an old-fashioned dining room, borrow ideas from yesteryear's kitchens. Shop for a rustic wooden dining table, and consider ladder-back chairs or even mismatched chairs. A corner hutch that will display your collectibles would be a charming addition to the room. Consider artwork that depicts country scenes. A barnyard scene with children in old-fashioned clothing in it, or a collection of pictures of farmhouses would be darling.

A Contemporary Look - Consider a chrome table with a glass top. Red or black chairs would be fabulous. Consider framing Picasso prints, or frame your own modern art. Think about choosing bright colors in your artwork that will complement the colors you selected for your chairs. A chrome chandelier would be really great in a contemporary dining room setting. Think about adding shelves to hold contemporary collectibles and your favorite dishes.

The Floors - Of course, carpet is nice, but consider selecting hardwood floors for any style dining room you have chosen, as it is very versatile. In addition, hardwood will last for an extremely long time. It's easy to care for, too. Simply dust mop it and, when extra attention is needed, use a product that is designed especially for hardwood floors. When properly cared for, hardwood floors become even more beautiful as they age.

  • For an elegant setting, consider very dark, rich hardwood.
  • If you are going with an old-fashioned theme, consider selecting reclaimed wood flooring from old buildings. Chestnut, pine or oak are all great choices for an aged, worn look.
  • For a contemporary dining room, consider black hardwood floors. Talk about dramatic and sophisticated!

Have fun as you plan your new dining room.

I want people to know what to look for in a trusted company, how to find one and ultimately, how to stay safe when waiting on a locksmith and when using one. I hope my site provides you with information that you find useful.
